- Wondering which section is right for you? Email Kate for a little help. For section placement and pairings purposes, we will use the latest established
official ratings for NWSRS or USCF, whichever is higher.
- All of the scholastic sections
will be NWSRS rated. No USCF or OCF Membership is required to play in the U1000 and below. Although... as
always, USCF rules will be followed.
FRIENDS & FAMILY
Requirements: Open
to anyone accompanying a tournament player. No memberships required.
Entry Fee: $5 in advance /

to ages 5-17, or unrated players ages 5-10. No memberships required.

membership is not required in this section.

place, medals for 3+ wins.
Format: 5 Round
Swiss, G30, clocks and notation required. USCF & NWSRS RATED
U1600
Grand Prix Section
Requirements: Open
to all ages or unrated players of all ages. Current USCF and OCF/WCF Membership is required (can
be purchased or renewed on site). This is a Franett Memorial NW Grand Prix section.
Entry Fee: $30 in advance
/ $40 at the door
Prize Fund: 80%
of registration fees collected for this section
Awards: Cash prizes awarded
to 1st-3rd place (45%/25%/15%) and U1400 (15%). Medals for 2.5+ wins.
Format: 4 Round
Swiss, G60, Clocks and notation required. Franett Memorial NW Grand Prix Section & USCF RATED.
OPEN
Grand Prix Section
Requirements: Open to
all ages. Current USCF and OCF/WCF Membership is required (can be purchased or renewed on site).
This is a Franett Memorial NW Grand Prix section.
Entry Fee: $40 in advance
/ $50 at the door
Prize Fund: 80%
of registration for this section
Awards: Cash prizes awarded
to 1st-3rd place (45%, 25%, 15%), U1800 (15%). Medals for 2.5+ wins.
Format: 4 Round
Swiss, G60, Clocks and notation required. Franett Memorial NW Grand Prix Section & USCF RATED.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- Depending on the number of entries in each section,
the TD reserves the right to recombine or add sections and prizes.
- 30% of all entrants will receive an award.
- No byes.
- Latest "official" USCF ratings will be used in the
U1200, U1600 & Open sections. If a scholastic player in the U1200, U1600 or Open section has a provisional
USCF rating, NWSRS ratings may be used, if established.
- Established NWSRS will be used in the scholastic sections.
If a scholastic player does not have an established NWSRS rating, USCF established ratings may be used.
- The TD also reserves the right to refuse entry
to ANY players who have displayed poor sportsmanship.

Place Tie
Breaks - Final placement will be determined by computer tie break.
G30 Award
Tie Breaks - If two or more players tie for first place, the winner will be determined by Blitz (G5).
G60 Tie Breaks - If two or more players are tied for any cash award,
the winner will be determined by Blitz (G5).

Where the
heck is Clatskanie? We're just across the river from Longview, WA and about an hour NW of
Portland. A few blocks from our playing site is a covered skate park, kayak rentals and a great pizza place! Our
tournaments are friendly, fun and definitely worth checking out.
Directions: Take I-5 to
the Longview WA exit #36. Follow the signs to the Lewis & Clark bridge and go across the Columbia River.
Turn right onto Hwy 30, travel 11 miles. We're a one stoplight town... don't blink or you may miss it! Two
streets past the light, turn left onto Bryant Street. The Community Center is 5 blocks up on the left. Or....
take Highway 30 and follow the directions above.

ACCOMMODATIONS
Make reservations early. There are other activities in the area. Be sure to ask
for the chess rate when you call Clatskanie hotels...
Camping is available at the Clatskanie City Park - where we also have a covered skate park
and Kayak rentals. Only $10 with hookups. Call 503-728-3094
Camping is also available at Perkins Creek, about 5 miles from Clatskanie. A very peaceful
location that has been recently renovated. Call the Perkins Family 503-728-4407.
Rainier's - Hudson Park (a lovely county campground nestled in the forest) 503-556-9050.
SIDE EVENTS
Giant chess set and computers
available between rounds. Bluegrass Festival, Quilt Show and Buck-a-Book sale at the library. A little something for everyone!
CONCESSIONS
Beverages, snacks, Subway sandwiches and sweet
things will be available onsite.
BRING
Chess sets & clocks if you have them.
MISC
Grassy area and basketball court available
between rounds.
No electronic devices of any kind allowed
in playing area.
