GET READY FOR STATE & NATIONAL EVENTS

It's Blitz/Bughouse time!  Come to Clatskanie in search of a pot 'o gold... or at least a golden trophy or two!   This tournament is an open event.   Leprechauns of all ages and playing abilities welcome.

SCHEDULE:     Blitz Check in at 10 am

                        Bughouse Check in at 1:00 pm

AWARDS:        Generous trophies awarded to 25% of all entrants.  Prizes awarded for both Blitz & Bughouse tournaments.  We will also have something special for chess players who did their best and learned a lot!  No one goes home empty handed.  Additional awards include:  Best Attitude, Sportsmanship, Best Team Name and perhaps one or two surprises as well.

SITE:               Clatskanie Community Education Center 555 SW Bryant Clatskanie OR.

DIRECTIONS:  Travel Highway 30 west from Portland towards Astoria.  (Clatskanie is approximately 60 miles northwest of Portland.)  Were a one stoplight town don't blink or you may miss it!  Two streets past the light, turn left off of Hwy 30 onto Bryant Street. The Community Center is 5 blocks up, on the left.  Parking is available on the street and in the parking lot.

                        Or take I-5 to the Longview, WA exit #36.  Follow the signs to the Lewis & Clark Bridge. Cross the Columbia River.   Turn right onto Hwy 30 and follow the directions above.

FORMAT:         Double Five round Swiss.  Time Control:  G/5 You will play 2 games with each opponent you're paired with, one as white and one as black.  Pairings set by computer.  Blitz and Bughouse rules, based on those used at USCF Scholastic Nationals.  (This event is for fun, not ratings.)  Please bring your clocks if you have them.

                        Bughouse players can come without a partner and make a new friend on the day of the tournament.   This tournament is open to all ages and playing abilities... age 5-adult!  Blitz/Bughouse Rules

SECTIONS:     Blitz:  Sections will be determined based on ratings and number of entries.

                        Bughouse:  Sections will be determined based on a combined rating and number of entries.

REGISTRATION:             

$20 for both events (Bughouse & Blitz),$15 for one event (Bughouse or Blitz) if postmarked 5 days prior to tournament date, or register and pay online by midnight on Thursday. 

If you pay at the door, the entry fee will be $30 for both or $20 for one event.

Registering early lets us buy additional awards if entries exceed expectations.  So please do register early.

MISC:              Grassy play area and video room.  No electronic devices of any kind allowed in playing room.

CONCESSIONS:  

                          Beverages, fruit, sub sandwiches & junk food! 

BRING:             We're a small club so please bring your clocks if you have 'em.
